The Resurection of Jesus Christ
As we head toward Easter, it is a good time to ponder the resurrection. The evidence of it is overwhelming. For example, if this was a made up story, the disciples never would have had women discovering the empty tomb. In those days a woman's testimony was not valid in court. Therefore if it was made up,they would have had men to first discover the empty tomb, more credible witnesses to persuade the people. But for truths sake they told it the way it was.
Secular historians will admit that the disciples did in fact believe they saw Jesus after he died. They claim they saw hallucinations. There is no such thing, however, as group hallucinations. It just doesn't happen. And remember, the disciples were so convinced of the resurrection that they willingly died for their conviction.
I do not have time to go into this subject further, but it is a subject worthy of our diligent study. One book that explores the subject from an historical perspective is "The case for the Resurrection" by Gary R. Habermas.
Believing in the resurrection is not an option. Romans chapter 10 verse 9 says it is a requirement for salvation.
Here is what it says:
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Believing in the resurrection brings great joy because the Christian realizes the Victory of God, the Power of God, and the Truth of God. It is truly joy unspeakable and full of glory.
